The Ocean Safety Single Para-Drogue is designed to allow for greater control, improve the direction stability downwind and also vary the speed of the vessel. This para-drogue is to be deployed from the stern and is particularly useful in rough weather conditions.

The Ocean Safety Single Para-Drogue is particularly important when running before large seas, reducing the risk of broaching, especially in breaking waves and shallow seas. This para-drogue can also be rigged as an emergency steering device and help prevent overtaking when under tow.
